Life at the City of the Boys and Girls

When girls and boys arrive here, they accept norms and rules, which guide them to take advantage of the available resources and their best talents, preparing them for a better future. Each member of this family is responsible of their clothing being washed, ironed and they clean their assigned areas at the respective general cleaning times.

The orphanage is divided in three areas, one for little children, one for teenagers and the third one for youngsters; and, of course, the girls area is divided the same way on the other side of the house.

For everybody, a normal day begins at 5:00 a.m., getting up early to clean the streets that surround the Orphanage, the courtyards, and dormitories; they need to get ready to have breakfast, and then to start with their elementary school, high school or college classes. Specifically, in the case of the little ones (from elementary school) their classes are taught inside the same installations of the City of the Children, their teachers are instructed by the Public Education Department, and they are column and basement for the future of these little ones.

While children are at school, the internal printing workshop begins its work with the assistance of the Orphanage helpers, like cooks that in conjunction with the missioner nuns will prepare the menu of the day, depending on the type and amount of ingredients that were delivered by diverse institutions. At the same time, the priest prepares the remained journey; it could be elaborating cleaning schedules, event programs, checking needs, revising new applications, etc.

After school, children change their uniforms for clothes and they get ready for lunch time, very well organized they pray to thank God for their meals, they serve themselves and when they finish they choose who will do the dishes and clean the dining room.

They study all afternoon, and they prepare for next day any extra activity, like the participation on Eucharistic service or on their classes (English, Catechism), cleaning bathrooms, etc., until dinner time arrives.
