Who we are?

A little History
The City of Boys and Girls of La Paz was founded by combonianos Missioners on April 20th, 1952. On this date the Priest Zelindo Marigo placed the first stone of the Orphanage Tepeyac and Carpentry San José, the origin of today City of the Children; with the objective to offer children without parents or coming from disintegrated families shelter and education, who have never had the opportunity of receiving love or advise from their parents, because they are orphans or they have been physically abused. On November 1954, the Priest Carlos Toncini became the Principal of this Institution and he consolidated it in few years. Was the same Priest Toncini who, on January 1962, complemented the City of the Boys founding the City of the Girls; on 1964 he established also, the Cross Hill “Colina de la Cruz”, home where all the little girls five years old and below lived with nuns.
So, the City of the Children celebrated its first fifty years of giving shelter to thousands of children, teenagers, and youngsters particularly from the Northeast of Mexico; offering them moral support, clothing and meals to survive the painful experience of orphanhood or coming from a disintegrated family. In this house boys and girls have the opportunity of continuing their basic, medium or superior education, and/or if they rather learn an occupation, at the printing, carpentry, and/or soldering workshops. All children take English, computers, dancing, theatre, and sports. Currently, the house has a population of eighty girls and boys. On January, 1991 the Missioners of Nativity of Mary "Misioneros de la natividad de María" received, from the Combonians missioners, the responsibility of directing the City of Children of La Paz. They were leaded by the Priests Fernando Quezada Covarrubias y Zenaido M. Casillas. Priest Fernando Quezada was the principal from 1991 to 2000 and now he is serving his second period, from 2004 to this date. His work team is composed by two Seminary students, four nuns, and the institution patronage, also by an enthusiastic group of volunteer ladies.
